THE ANGEL WHO APPEARED AS A MADMAN

One of the most unusual encounters I have ever had with an angel did not come in the form that many people would expect. When people think about angels, they often imagine shining beings with radiant garments, glorious wings, and overwhelming light. While such manifestations do exist, heaven sometimes chooses forms that test the heart of a man.

This encounter happened in the year 2017 when I was attending a program organized by the youth fellowship of Deeper Christian Life Ministry, widely known as Deeper Life Bible Church.

It was a youth training program, a time of spiritual instruction and fellowship among young believers who were seeking to grow in their faith and understanding of God.

After the program had ended, we were returning home. As we approached the gate while leaving the premises, something unusual happened.

There was a man standing there. He appeared to be a madman.

His clothes were untidy. His feet were bare. His appearance was rough but calm. His behavior made him look unstable, like many people who have lost their sanity appear on the streets.

Naturally, anyone would feel uncomfortable approaching such a person.

I was not alone at that moment. A younger friend of mine was walking with me. When the man suddenly called out to me, my friend immediately stepped back and moved away from the scene because the situation looked dangerous and unpredictable.

But something within me compelled me to move closer.

As I approached him, he began speaking to me.

What he said shocked me.

His words were not the words of a madman.

Instead, he spoke with a strange clarity and authority.

He began telling me something very serious about the voice of God.

He said that there are men in our time who truly hear the voice of God. He also said that even some people who appear to be great men of God do not necessarily have access to the voice of God the way people may assume.

Then he spoke directly to me. He warned me that whenever God speaks to me, I must make sure I obey.

He emphasized that obedience to the voice of God is a great blessing.

But he also warned that there are consequences for those who hear the voice of God and choose to disobey it.

At that time in my life, God had been speaking to me consistently. However, I must admit that there were moments when I struggled with obedience. Sometimes I delayed. Sometimes I ignored what I sensed God was instructing me to do.

The words of that strange man struck my heart deeply.

Then he asked me a question that I have never forgotten.

He looked at me and asked: “Do you want to be like me?”

The question carried a weight that went far beyond ordinary conversation.

Immediately after asking the question, he told me something else.

He told me that I should go. That was the end of the encounter.

At that moment, I did not fully understand what had happened. The event was strange and difficult to interpret.

However, later that night something remarkable occurred.

While I was asleep, I had a dream.

In that dream, I saw myself waking up, and standing at the exact place where I had earlier met the man was a mighty angelic being.

The presence of the being was powerful and unmistakable.

At that moment, understanding dawned on me.

The man I had spoken with earlier was not an ordinary madman.

He was an angel.

The encounter had been a divine warning.

Looking back, I realized that heaven sometimes sends messages in unexpected ways. God may use circumstances, people, dreams, or even mysterious encounters to correct, guide, or redirect a person.

The Bible confirms that angels sometimes appear in forms that people may not immediately recognize.

In the Epistle to the Hebrews 13:2, the Scripture says:

"Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares."

This encounter taught me a lesson that has remained with me ever since.

The voice of God must never be taken lightly.

When God speaks, obedience is not optional.

Every instruction from heaven carries purpose, blessing, and direction. But ignoring divine instruction can lead to consequences that affect a person's destiny.

The angel's question “Do you want to be like me?” was also a warning about the seriousness of disobedience.

It reminded me that spiritual decline does not happen suddenly. It often begins when a person repeatedly ignores the voice of God.

From that day forward, I became more conscious of the importance of obedience to God's voice.

The encounter marked another step in my growing awareness that the ministry of angels is real, and that heaven actively participates in guiding the lives of those who belong to God.

And this was only the beginning.

The next encounter would reveal something even more astonishing about the assignments of angels and the mysterious way they move between heaven and earth.
